I like mind maps. I like making them, and I also like looking at mind maps created by other people. They inspire me, make my mind jump around, associate and create new meanings. Here's one I've snatched from Dina's place.
The entry in the middle is very intriguing - "Get Deeply Geeky", and so is the brainstorm around it. How to be a woman and still survive in tech ... well, sometimes difficult, but definitely possible!
I sometimes use this technique in my work. Sometimes with clients, sometimes as a tool for charting ideas or affiliations between concepts.
Highly recommended for both work and for any situation, where you need to map your thoughts in a structured - yet free - manner! Try making one yourself. You start with the center thought, the subject that you want to explore. Then move out from there, mapping related thoughts or ideas, then associating further from those, etc.
The center thought can be anything. Youself, in your present life, your marriage, your job, a problem that needs to be solved ... there's no limit but your imagination.
Which, of course, is limitless ...
