TV ads

When I watch TV, I usually watch one or two ads and then zap to another channel for the rest of the ad break. Why? Because ads are often dumb, noisy, irrelevant, boring, or they talk down to me in a way that gets me extremely annoyed.

Therefore, I'm beginning to collect TV ads that I actually like and that I wouldn't mind watching again and again. Beautiful or meaningful or fun or intelligent or whatever it is that makes TV advertising great - even if you're not in the target group or planning to buy what is sold or marketed.

So - here's the first in a row of Cadbury adverts. Score is 6/10 for

  • Pure joy! Makes ya smile
  • Weird "flying head with living coconuts for hair + disco guy" idea
  • Lovely music
If you like it, you can watch the full 4 minute version here.

Another hit from Cadbury which I rate 8/10 simply because it's fun and the idea is great. The vehicles are so strange-looking that they all seem to have personalities - like in the animated "Cars". The ad made me smile - and I like watching it ... which is a long way from being annoyed.
